Anthony Bernardo contacted me in 2000 about my 1996 Classics of Science Fiction list. He was fascinated by my idea but wanted to expand on the concept. Anthony found an additional fifteen references. His research just reinforced the validity of the earlier lists.

Any good critical or fan best of list seems to catch the real classics and the popular titles of the time. Over time as we add lists, the effect is to reinforce the real classics and slowly add new titles to the Classics list. That's why the list has grown to 193 titles. New titles are both recent titles, and very old books that are slowly getting credit as being a classic book.
